  • In India, the academic courses in the field of pharmacy starts from diploma level to doctoral level
  • Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) is an entry-level tertiary pharmacy credential.
  • It is obtained following two-year of training
  • The curriculum and syllabi for the programme are as per the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) the statutory body governing pharmacy profession in India
  • After obtaining the diploma, registration with the pharmacy council is required to be a registered pharmacist
  • A D. Pharm holder can also enroll for a professional (undergraduate) degree course of Bachelor of Pharmacy via lateral entry scheme

Eligibility

  • Minimum qualification for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy part-I course - A pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.
    • Intermediate examination in Science
    • The first year of the three-year degree course in Science
    • 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science
    • Pre-degree examination
    • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination
  • Provided that there shall be reservation of seats for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Govt. /State Govts. /Union Territory Administrations as the case may be from time to time

Course Structure

The duration of the course shall be for 2 academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.

The various subjects and curriculum activities which will be covered over the course duration of 2 years is mentioned below:

  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry - II (Theory and Practical)
  • Pharmacology and Toxicology (Theory and Practical)
  • Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence (Theory)
  • Drug Store and Business Management (Theory)
  • Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy (Theory and Practical)

Examinations

  • There shall be an annual examination at the end of the academic year
  • If necessary, there shall be a supplementary examination for the students who are not able to pass Diploma in Pharmacy Part-I or Part-II, as the case may be, as per the criteria specified by the examining authority
  • The examinations shall be of written and practical (including oral) nature, carrying maximum marks for each part of a subject

PARAMEDICAL

There is a high demand for Paramedics in India. Paramedics are medical professionals who are trained in such a way that they can diagnose diseases in the human body and can extend their support to doctors in order to ensure better medical treatment by doing medical checkups and other therapies

The demand for Paramedical courses has increased. Every hospital wants individuals who are skilled in operating and maintaining medical instruments. Students are taught a generic course in the first year of the programme. In further years, the course progresses on the basis of the specialization.

With the fast-emerging technology and medical sectors, Indian medical organizations need skilled paramedics at hospitals as well as for research.
